Overview of the Program

Ph.D. in Business Administration Program under Martin de Tours School of Business and Economics

The Ph.D. in Business Administration program is dedicated to training the next generation of leading scholars in business. The philosophy of the program is to build on a solid foundation in the social sciences to develop rigorous analytical capabilities in the study of the underlying disciplines while discussing topics of common interest in a diverse community of scholars.

The plans of study are designed for completion within four years. The curriculum is structured around three areas of competency: research methods, theoretical concepts, and empirical skills. In their first year, students will take courses in the field of business and economics as well as courses that prepare them for empirical research. In the second year, students will continue developing their competency in three specializations: finance, marketing, or management. At the end of their second year, students are required to pass a qualifying examination. During the last two years, students work toward the preparation and defense of a doctoral thesis.

The Martin de Tours School of Business and Economics consists of faculty with diversified profiles in research, teaching, and consulting.  All faculty members in the PH.D. program hold doctoral degrees from premier institutions and are with extensive academic research experience or industrial experience.  Our doctoral program is kept deliberately small henceforth our faculty members are dedicated to the training and development of each student.

We welcome applicants from all academic, cultural, and professional backgrounds, and we value students who are willing to tackle challenging problems of real-world importance by either theoretical or empirical approaches.  Since its establishment in 1969, the Martin de Tours School of Business and Economics has developed an outstanding reputation for its interdisciplinary programs in business, many of our alumni have obtained senior positions in local and multinational firms.  We believe that the Ph.D. program at Martin de Tours School of Business and Economics can be excellent preparation for your future academic career.
